Question

Hi.
I have a hairline crack in the plastic end tank on my radiator. I think I know how it was caused, when my head gaskets went a few months ago. Question is, can this be plastic welded, or is it scrap?

Rob I think you may be able to have a plastic specialist do something with it......Depends on the plastics properties.

scrap it mate.

the plastic splits under expansion when they get old and brittle, once it's at this stage you are fighting a losing battle if you mend.

Get one from a newer car through a breakers, at the end of the day it'll be better than being stranded somewhere when it decides to make itself worse.

I'll 2nd that as well, i reapired my end cap by plastic welding..

Was looking in the engine bay a week after and the weld opened up again and covered the engine n me in scalding water..
Luckily i was outside my house, could have been burned and stranded.

Had the same problem took mine to a small radiator repair shop in wrexham not far from you its behind the bar scotts . he checked it out and agreed it was beyond repair went back the next day and he had made me one took measurements off the old one so fixing points were the same . he also spayed it matt black it cost £150 , this was the same as the scrapyards and they could not guarentee them.also if you have a wrx mine is a 93 they are larger than the british impreza radiators.

I had the same problem with my MY95 WRX almost 2 years ago. Purchased a refurbished one at half the cost of a new one (1 year guarantee) and it's been fine since.
