What year of car? I'm toying with this for my MY96 when I work out what I need...

I'll mail you my list so far - be warned it's sketchy and incomplete.

I wouldn't mind working through this with someone who's considering doing the same.

Peanuts DON'T INJURE YOURSELF

Officially have to be licensed to de gas an aircon unit, this stuff is lethal and can result in a serious injury and trip to hospital. Not to mention the Nuclear Biohazard team coming in to mop up and fine you for all the CFC's let out into our good clean air.

Leave it to the professionals........

Xtreme - you're right about that - the gas in the old Scoobs will probably be R12 (IIRC) which shouldn't be used for regassing - however there is an alternative, (I'm told it's AC properties are inferior ).

My father-in-law hopefully still has some contacts in this field - once the gas is out it's a care of carefully moving the bits around and then having it leak tested and refilled.

If you're getting the bits from a scrap yard, then they should be degassed anyway, so it's just a case of making sure you've got everything and then fitting.

I'll dig out the parts list now I'm home...

If Peanuts injured himself would he then be Peanut "Smooth" Butter?

DNB - thanks it was more a precaution also the new stuff is apparently tainted with oil so it can lube the inside of the air con system......

I think thats what he said from the drowned out tones under the bio hazard suit....

Ferrari nutter, lol. smooooooooth.
thanks for the warning, will not be attempting transplant myself now. phew.
that`ll be why dealer unit is a lot more than the private unit

if I keep listening to your advice I`ll be riding a ZX 1.5 RRRRRRR before long and there wont be a trace of morris dancer left in me
seriously tho, good on ya, its advice like that that saves bother, time, blood and sometimes it would seem, prosecution under the chemical biohazard and pollution (i just made that up) act 1999...

Peanuts (smooth or crunchy).....
