ITG or Green Panel Filters available at around £36 & £36.95 plus vat respectively from most specialists.

They do make a difference but not like nOS on Fast & Furious 2.............

K&N from experience, they also significantly reduce turbulence in the intake, much nicer on MAF sensor

I know its a induction kit and not a filter but i got the blitz SUS the other day and its absoloutly amazing, just the noise alone you get is worth the money + one of the threads i read on induction kits shows a 14bhp increase from this!!!!

It may go boom again even with that green filter

AFAIK no one has ever proved that any panel filter has caused a car to blow up. Some allegedly cause contamination of the MAF sensor which can lead to it failing, which can then lead to poor fuelling and finally kaboom.

I did run an ITG, then got scared and checked if I could tell the difference between it and the std one. I couldn't so I've stuck the original back on.

I may try the green one if it's worth it.

Been thinking of adding some form of induction kit or panel filter but I have read differing remarks (some even saying that the former are bad for the car in certain circumstances.??).
I like the idea of adding something that will improve the noise of the motor while it's being made to work as opposed to an exhaust which generally speaking will increase noise levels all round - something i am keen to avoid if possible..
What sort of proven(ish) results have been achieved by peeps from just changing a filter - just to give me something to go on as ideally a filter and remap (of some description) would be my ideal if the gains were worth the outlay.

I use the JR panel from JW Racing on my STI, had an ITG in before but got a little worried about the green snot coming out of it all the time!

Put the JR one in, found the throttle response improved dramatically, as well as a feeling of more power at high revs!

Speak to Jamie or Paul or goto the JW Racing site at www.j-w-racing.com

JW sounds OK so far. Though, re. the induction kit question, I am dubious as to whether that will produce significantly more thin oil than a performance panel filter to damage the MAF.

If that is the case, and I get an induction kit and ensure that it isn't soaked in oil, will this produce more gains than standard airbox plus perf. panel filter?

I would say you will get higher gains than using the standard air box, the blitz kit is a steel mesh with no oil whatsoever, this is one reason i got one!
