Smokey under power
#1
Hi All,
Got a bit of a problem, my 93wrx seems to smoke like hell when under any load. I only have 1/4 mile of gravel track to test it on as its not SVAd yet so put foot on brake slightly and open thottle and i get clouds behind.
Can anyone advise on what i can do/what to check ??

JJones,
Can you e-mail me info, as at the end of the day if it isnt the turbo im sure i can sell on all be it at a small loss.
How easy are they to fit ? i would say i am a fairly confident DIY mechanic, ie services etc no probs.
Also do you know how quick i could get my hands on it, SVA due next week and im away at weekend

Hi All,
Thanks for your input, the car is a MY93 WRX Auto Wagon, is this fitted with the TD04 ?
LMWRX, if it were the gasket would that explain the oil down the right hand side of the engine

for head gasket you would have plums of white smoke, even when idling. to double check remove the dipstick - if the oil looks like oil and not mayonaise then all should be well. a final check would be open the water expansion bottle and look for signs of oil in there (visible like when oil on the road gets wet). this doesn;t sound like a head gasket to me. more likely the turbo.
can anyone confirm if the turbo model number is visible when it is in situ in the car?
