Heard these threads that claim an extra 25miles from a tank of Optimax if the ECU is reset to time for the fuel.
Of course thats as long as the car was run on lesser fuel grade before, Im assuming.
Does a MY99 UK Turbo need to have its ECU reset because theres a 50/50 split as to whether the ECU will adjust UP for fuel or just DOWN.
Can some of you techno-types help out here please cos 25 miles per tank is a big increase.

The ECU will advance the timing when you run higher octane therefore requiring less throttle position to achieve the same speed, so less throttle position means less air and fuel = better economy

I think the above only applies to >98 ECUs. The <99 ECUs take ages to compensate for better fuel hence a reset provides instant results.
In other words Andy, I don't think it is necessary with your ECU.
