Unhappy

MY95 Wrx misfires on idle, in 1st & 2nd gear its drives like a non turbo then in 3rd you can feel some boost but still crap. After driving a friend standard MY95 Wrx from 3000rpm the car flies in every gear. Ive done earth mod,new plugs & re gapped, cleaned boost sol, swapped coils around from cyl 1 to 4 etc, but still misfires. Finally took the car for a diagnostic check, report came back and said no errors recorded on ecu history however live reading shows faults possible to mass-air-flow & lamba sensors & waste gatevalve possibly loose within the system. I have adjusted the waste gate so it is in a more sealed closed position, this only increased the overall boost pressure to about 13psi but the car still feels non turbo in 1st gear, 2nd gear can feel the boost but only until about 4500rpm. Have re- adjusted waste to its original position. The revs on idle show 950rpm and stays there never hunts or jumps up or down, i thought that if the maf was duff the car would hunt for idle? As for the lamba i havnt got the gauge to see if im running ruch etc. Im just more confused and could do some help to solve this problem.

Try taking your MAF out and cleaning it with brake cleaner, it worked a treat for mine today. I had similar probs to you, my idle was fine but it was the MAF!!!!!!!

The 'comma' one in the aerasol can. This is what subaru uk advised and it worked.

Eddoe what problems did you have was it misfire on idle/low power as described. Its just that ive tried cleaning the maf before it seemed to make a slight difference but the problem was still there.
Very low power in 1st and 2nd.
It seems as if the engine it not producing power before 4500 rpm.

My problem was just no power up until about 5000rpm, it was stopping the turbo boosting at any more than about 5psi, the car was running about a 3rd down on power i was told by a specialist. Luckily, I took the cleaner out and cleaned it 2 or 3 times with the brake cleaner and it now runs a treat, I was told that the sensor could have been broke or corroded and may not have cleaned up.(A new one is about £70 from a main dealer). The MAF went because the car was sucking the oil out of the air filter and the MAF was covered in a thin layer of grease, subaru uk actually told me that even the original air filter can cause this as it did on mine.
