Question

Hey guys

As u probably know i have recently purchased a 97 UK Wagon, my mods are full decat hks exhaust, blitz induction and baileys dump valve.

As this is my first scooby I don't know if the car is running as it should although it feels fine, idles ok and runs smooth.

However at full throttle the boost gauge reads around the 8-9PSi and dosen't go higher than this.....is this the normal boost with my mods or should it be higher?

Sounds low but I'm no expert.
My MY99 boosts to 14 psi so 8-9 being approx half of that I'd say you have a problem.
Have you tried fault reading the ECU or resetting it ?
It may be on safe running.

Last night i filled up with optimax and disconnected the battery over night...this should have re-set the ecu...but it still reads the same on the boost gauge.

It could be my boost gauge thats faulty....but the problem is that it has been like this since i have bought it and i don't know how it should feel....how would i know the ecu is running in safe mode?

Regards

Ray

AFAIK, in safe mode the revs are limited to around 4k. this is a pretty good indication.

Do you know what the ecu is mapped to run at? I think (not sure though) that standard boost is about 0.6-0.8 bar which is what, about 9psi?

Could just need re-mapped to make the best of your mods.

The ecu is totally standard....i have been told i can't just simply re-map my ecu as its a 97 model....i would need to get a new re-mapable ecu which costs in excess of £1000!

If what you say is correct that a standard 97 Uk turbo runs at 0.5-0.6 bar then I think i am ok....i dunno?

Its fine mate, the standard boost is 9psi, the mods you have done dont up the boost, just the power figure.
