I posted this in the brakes section with no joy so:
I seem to have a lot of play in the handbrake cable and can actually pull 13 clicks. Due to imminent m.o.t. would like to take up the slack. The car is my95 import and, before I start into it I was wondering if it can be done inside the car at the handbrake end or if I have to get underneath?

i think you have to get underneath

i think there is an adjusting screw at the back of the wheel near the point where the cable disappears into the wheel itself

If you remove the centre console there are adjustment nuts to adjust the play, if you have have too much then you will need to go under the car.

If you need to adjust the handbrake at the wheels, remove the rubber plug which is at 6 o clock at the back of the brake disk/drum. Stick a flat screwdriver into the hole and adjust it by turning the small wheel just inside the hole.
