the solenoid should tick as you touch the throttle. in normal operation this ticks really fast to bleed off pressure from the wastegate. as rpm & turbo pressure increases, the ECU slows this ticking down to control the boost.
if it's getting louder it might be because the ends of the pipes arent connected to anything ? (i.e. not blocked up, so the ticking is heard down then???) or the bushes that hold it to the suspension turret are worn / loose ?
you can just disconnect it, but you'll get a CEL. you need to replace it with a 10k resistor to fool the ECU.

I have a MY94 WRX and my boost solinoid is making a loud clicking noise.
It only does it when you touch the throttle and gets louder when the engine rpm increases.
I have a Dawes Device so the hoses are disconnected but the wiring is still attached.
It is getting annoying now any ideas on how to quieten it down
Cheers

I went to my friendly local dealer with this problem a few weeks ago, it's amazing how the relay ticking sounded inside the car with all the windows shut - sounded a bit like piston slap.
Anyway the mechanic came out, immediately showed me the ticking relay and said replace the rubber mounts and it should be less obvious. But as i now know it is not piston slap I am not worried...
