2 questions really?

1. do dump valves/blow off valves increase fuel consumption?

2. are dump valves and blow off valves the same thing?

1. not sure... Some say the VTA type does. You have a recirc type fitted to the car as standard. (all turbo cars require a DV - unless you wanna severely reduce turbo life)

2. yes.. you get 2 types of DV's (dumpvalves) you get a recirculating DV and a Vent to atmosphere (VTA) type.

The Recirc push the 'excess' back into the system,
The VTA type makes teh 'pfftsshhhh' noise.

Generally the concensus (sp?) seems to say that the Recirc type performs slightly better... due to it keeps some of the pressure available... where as the VTA dumps the air away so it has to build up the pressure from scratch making a slightly longer spool time.
However a VTA will more likely give you flames if you're running a full decat too

IMHO it's probably subjective as to which is better as i reckon the spool time must only be a fraction of a second differance.

But what do i know.. i drive an Alfa155, I want a scoob, just the bank manager wouldn't like me if i did.
I've just been lurking around far tooo long and picked stuff up

Hope some of that helps.

Someone please correct me if what i've said is shyte
