Hi

Just a quick question about Knock Correction and the need for a knocklink to detect det?

I have a SECS and the Knock Correction (KC) runs at 0.0 for doodling around town and up to 11 degrees during more "spirited driving". I just wondered if the ECU is retarding the ignition because it senses boost, MAF readings etc and is PREVENTING det or is the ECU detecting Knock sensor activity and retarding accordingly ??.

I have MY02 with full decat, ITG, and EcuTek sample map for the decat / 02.

Cheers

Midlife..

Still not sure why the afr reading from the SECS drops to 0.75 at acceleration, tried to read the threads from Elgordano but none the wiser

If the SECS is reading 11 degrees, the car runs from a base timing map plus active knock correction, this could be negative or positive, you need to say which it is. if positive then no problem, if negative big problem.

Bob

Thanks for the time taken to reply.

It's a bit late for me to start the car and have a look, The neighbours would complain I'm sure.

AFAIK the SECS "KC" reading just gives degrees without a plus or minus. I'll have a careful look tomorrow to see if ther is a space on the display for a minus sign... I wonder if Simon from PSI is reading this ??

Have you any insight into the AFR reading from the SECS?

Thanks

Midlife...

sumtimes if i thrash it it goes up to 1/2 sum times higher, once when i started it up 1st thing in the morning it slowley increased up to about 12 or sumthing?? it was just sitting there idleing lol, no throttle or anything

i belive the display for knock is for noise detected after its happend??

most of the time tho it sits oin 0 and goes to maybe 1.5 if i give it sum gas

thats a wrx on optimax only, optimax with a full can of pro boost never saw the thing (iirc)

Hi Bob

Took the Scooby for a spin today, the Knock correction display on the SECS does not have a negative sign (like the boost etc)so I guess it's positive.

KC happens all the time apart from idle and lift off which I guess would mean the EcuTeK example map for the de-cat MY01-02 is really pretty conservative. Boost peak today at 1.1 bar...just wonder if there'a a leak somewhere ...

As an EcuTek guru yourself Is the example de-cat map sooooo conservative ??

strange but ive noticed mine going quite high today, the car also felt jerky, i was wondering what was up and taking it easy, car felt sluggish and not very happy at all
i tried a higher speed run and i could feel the car surging as if sumthing was blocking the fuel or such

kc went to 12, soon after i heard a whooshing noise, a inter cooler pipe was leaking and had came off

sorted that took it out and the guage stayed around 0/1.5 is while driving

if the display is knock correction (mines labled as knock retard) this should be -, not sure if mine reads in degrees or anything, but the closer it sits to 0 the better i feel lol
let us know on your octane boost tests
