I had various mods done at Powerstation today (Eibachs, solid droplinks, front strut brace, rear antiroll bar, bumpsteer/alignment). Car feels like it's running on rails now

Anyway, I ended up the day with a rolling road power run. Final result was 254 bhp & 236 lb ft.

The car's spec is as follows...
- UK MY00 Turbo
- Full Scoobysport decatted exhaust
- Scoobysport "Tek2" remap
- K&N 57i unduction kit
- Original fuel system (running on Optimax, no o/b)
- Original topmount i/c

TBH I was expecting the peak power/torque figures to be higher than this. Was I being too optimistic?

within 1 BHP of my readings from powerstation with similar mods (except fuel pump)

more torque than you though

I was expecting more too

Just throw some more money at it, it'll be alright

Cool

Why not save the mod money and spend out on a power run at power engineering. I suspect you will get better figures there. You will also be able to compare your figures more usefully with other cars tested there under similar conditions.

Cool

I had my car r/r'd at Power Engineering:

MY99
Full decat (H&S downpipe, Prodrive centre and box)
Tek2
K&N Panel filter
Optimax
All other bits standard

Made 264bhp/262lbft

I had the same mods as you done the other week at Power Station, plus equal length headers, handling is awesome now

New TD05 being fitted today plus fuel pump and reg, TEK3 on Monday!!

Can't wait........

Greg

I've read references on these forums to Powerstations rollers being a little conservative. Also, that Power Engineerings are a little generous. Is this reasonable?

If so, do we believe either one of them to be correct? Or, should perhaps the average of a Powerstation and a Power Engineering run be taken?

Yes, it would be nice to go down the "big power" route. FMIC, new turbo, fuel pump/regulator, injectors(?) and custom remapping. Possibly in the future. The shopping list features some lightweight 17s (still on OE 16s now) and a big brake kit beforehand (currently Scoobysports Group-N+/Pagid kit)!

In the meantime - I'm just trying to figure why the dyno test showed marginally lower results than I was expecting.

Powerstation themselves will say that their power readings are a bit lower than others. Its all meant to be comparative anyway to see what any mods have done to change things.

Interesting to see that you have found that the suspension set-up/bumpsteer removal has made a real difference, just as I did.

As long as you stick to one or the other of the rolling roads you'll get a good comparison of before and after mods.

I don't think it's really necessary to go to a rolling road with higher reading rollers "just because the figures are better".

The only person your kidding is yourself.

Stick the road that is the most convenient. (cheapest )

I agree that the "who's got the highest figures" competition is a waste of time. That's not the issue. The reason I got my car dyno tested was to see if it's working as it should be. I've had modifications done to the car, and there were indications given beforehand as to how well the car should respond to those modifications. I want to check if it's met those indications, or if it's performing below-par due to some issue I'm unaware of.

The biggest question is , were you happy with the performance befor you had it on the rolling road ? if you were then what does it matter what the figures are . With the mods it sounds about right for their r/r

Most mapped TD04 cars (various ECUs, various mappers, various years, all decats) at Powerstation cluster around the 245-250 BHP range.

In that case Fatman, did you have a r/r session done BEFORE the mods, as the figure AFTER means nothing without it.

If it actually means anything at all

Yes, I see what you mean. And yes I'm very happy with how the car runs. The peak power generated is only part of the story. A major benefit that I appreciate of the exhaust mods and Tek-2 is the overall 'driveability' of the car. The throttle response is excellent, and gives strong torque across the rev range.

As I said, I was interested in seeing whether the car produced the results that it should have. i.e. a diagnositc of whether there were any faults. From the printout I have, and the responses of folks here, I'm content: the car gaves the results it should do for its state of tuning.

And no, this is was the first rolling-road test I've done with the car.

I had my Type R dyno'd at a few different places on consecutive days back in Nov, and although BHP was as expected the torque reading was the lowest.

302bhp/ 277 Lbft (234 @ wheels) POWERSTATION
299bhp/292lbft (232@ wheels) OWEN DEVELOPMENTS
308bhp/ 302lbft (246@wheels) G FORCE

I havent taken the Type R to PE however in my RS days I always got better results up there by around 10%.

After following a lot of threads it also would seem that if you get 230-250@wheels at PE they equate it to around 320-340 flywheel horses, which shows the difference from those results above
