Question

My beloved RB5 has been soiled with a Superchip. Needless to say it will be removed pronto. What are better alternatives to keep the grin factor?

MY99 K+N air filter, Decat centre section.
ECU is ae801.

Ecutek.

I have the John Banks TEK2.5 and I love it.

You can either get a mail order map (TEK 2 or JBs 2.5) or a custom (TEK 3) map for your car.

Use the search function to read all of the good reviews.

Yes, the mail order maps are perfectly safe.

Knowing virtually zero about the workings of my car - what exactly does a postal re-map entail?
What do I have to do to upgrade the ECU with the re-map?
And how much would it set me back?

You can either have a postal map or a number of specialist units will remap with you in the car.

Postal map usually operates as you send your ecu off and they send a preprogrammed ecu back (unless they re do yours though the wait will be a bit longer)

Or you sit in the car the map is reflashed ou drive the car the mapper dials in appropriate changes and off you go......

The cost for a remap is £650 plus vat (don't know price of postal version.......though should imagine it to be the same)

From the remap and full system you should see circa 280-290 bhp

Both versions are £650+vat but the power from the postal version is a bit lower. This is for safety reasons as we can't test it on your car.

Its well worth the drive over to have the custom map done so you leave with the car fully optimised
