hi,

Just wanted a few eye's cast over my ideas for tunning my new WRX. Any thoughts/comments much appreciated.

Was thinking of a full decat (b4 and after the turbo) exhaust (3 inch system), induction kit, Ecutek or similar. What do you think this will give me ? From my estimations I should see a rise from the standard 225 bhp to around 280 bhp based on what the PPP does (exhaust with 2 CATS and remap gives 265 bhp). Is this about right ?
I've read that I may need a restrictor (?) to stop boost spikes ? and have also been told to uprate the fuel pump and AFR ???
Also what 3 inch system should i go for and which ecu/remap ?

Cheers in advance for your help fellas.

Integrale

A 2.5" or 3" system will give approx 285bhp and 270+lb torque with an EcuTek map installed. A 3" downpipe is recommended, but after this the gas has cooled greatly and 2.5" for the ecentre and rear will flow enough for much more power than you will be creating here.

On your WRX you won't need to change fuel pumps, reulators, restrictors or anything else. The EcuTek map takes account of all of the standard equipment, and the exhaust, to provide a very quick and usable car

Pete - thanks for your thoughts, tunning is one of them things, very subjective.
Can you recommend an exhaust system...one that is 3 inch ?
also can u recommend an Ecutek remmaper ?
cheers,

Having a bit of a nightmare with the PPP route. In a nutshell I've got a dutch import and am being told by the guys at prodrive that my car will need to be PPP'd at a dealers in Holland or Belgium to keep my waranty and on todays exchange rate this works out at about £1900 - way too expensive. On the other hand my local subaru dealer is telling me that they've rang International Motors and they can do the PPP for £1600 and I can keep my warranty...problem is i dont totally believe them and they wont put it in writing - think they just want my £1600 !. And if i'm gonna invalidate my warranty then i may as well spend my money on the Ecutek/Exhaust route and get better gains. Phew, so there u go. Of course if anyone else has a dutch import that they taken to their local UK dealer and had PPP fitted then let me know.

integrale - the problem you'll have with a Dutch import is that even if you get the PPP done in the Netherlands, you'll need to upgrade the brakes/suspension. They don't warranty the PPP brakes/suspension packages so you'll have a quick car that isn't complimented by stopping power or handling.

If you have the PPP fitted in the UK you will invalidate your warranty, so either way you're snookered.

I decided to upgrade my car along the lines of what I imagine Pete Croney will suggest. So far, my car is 6 months old and has done 20k miles - the only problem occurring with the rear dampers which I suspect were part of a faulty batch, the cost of which to replace amounted to £120.00.

So far, so good.
