today/yesterday i bought a samco turbo hose kit for my car, i have fitted most of the hoses and i have 2 left, i have checked the samco part numbers and the box of bits i was given coresponds to the wrx sti, mine is not a sti

now its ovb to me im missing the Y piece from under the cooler, but apart from that the rest of the bits are the same, now

does the sti have a metal Y piece under the cooler?, these 2 hoses i have left look as if they replace the bendy flexi bits of the standerd wrx pipe, i am planning to cut of these horrible bits and slide the samco bits over then refit the plastic Y piece

does the sti have a metal one?
has anybody been in this boat?

i did a bit of mearsureing quickly and it looks like if i cut of them horrible flexi bits the samco pipes i have left will slide over and tighten up, what sort fo pipeing is under the version 4 sti intercooler for example?

Yes the STIs come with metal a Y piece.

Is the plastic pipe your going to cut down stiff enough to take a jubilee clip with out collapsing?

I'd take it all off again and send it back for the right kit

The same happened to me, you got the wrong set there!!
You mention your car is a WRX, meaning new age WRX or version 1 to 6 WRX?
I have a MY99, equals to a WRX ver 5 or 6 in Japan and got the set for the ver 5,6 STI, which is not the same as the regular ver 5,6 WRX's.
The STI kit consists of 4 pieces, the normal WRX is 3 pieces also including he large Y-piece...

its a 97 wrx
do u think the plastic hose wont be able to take a jublie clip?
it looks pretty strong, from what i can see the weak parts would be the bendy flexi bits, that this hose should replace?

i could take it back, but checking prices means ill probably have to pay another £20ish or so for the "proper" kit :s

are you wanting to just keep the OEM plastic y-piece hose with your new Samco hoses?

If so forget it. The benefit from the Samco hoses is you're replacing the cr@ppy plastic OEM hose with a more rigid one.

The others are not that important IMHO (possible the DV one is a close 2nd).

Send it back and get the proper kit. Did you not tell the supplier which car model you had? if so, then I'd blame them for sending you the wrong one and they shouldn't charge you for a swap.

im thiking by removing them horrible flexi bits from the Y piece its raised the boost level a touch?

Thumbs up

You really need the Y piece. STi's have it in metal, and I'm reliably told it is a good mod.

Send yours back and get the right one.
Also makes the intercooler a breeze to fit/refit compared with the old one.
