Would it be a good idea to fit steel head gaskets to my my97 before a bigger turbo etc?
Can I use a thicker one to lower compression will it benefit the car in any way?
Cheers Nick.

don't bother with a thicker one, probably do more harm than good. phase one engines typically run a 1.6mm gasket which you can get in steel form as an Sti part. But to be honest even the std composite one seems pretty good when not killed by things like detonation and overheating.

there are plenty of other things to worry about.
