I've just done my own on a '98 UK car with Defi's, and it was a doddle, once I got the wiring right: see my previous post: I've never heard of a car with a switched live wire at less than 12v, but you live and learn.
If you want I can give you supplementary instructions to the Chiark site, or you could take a run over here, and we could have a look together....better still, if you have a garage to work in, we could do it there?

Does it have the cubbyhole box on top of the dash? If not, where were you thinking of putting the pod, and wghat sort of pod is it, (whose make?).
Also: what make gauges, electrical or mechanical, and do you have the fitting kits for them, with Scoob adaptors?
