Do you mean an FMIC front mounted intercooler rather than a TMIC top mount intercooler ?

Not had it done on mine but the pros seem to be that are that the air gets cooled better and are more effiecient esp. in warmer weather as a top mount is stuck on top on a hot engine.

Cons are price you are looking at £1500 for a decent FMIC and then theres fitting and redirecting all the pipe work.

The FMIC will only see any benefit if you have done loads of other mods before eg you will need a fully mappable ECU to take full advantage of it. They also dont just slot in so you may have to modify bodywork to squeeze them in.

I am not real technical but I was told a FMIC is for later down the modding list. Depends what you have already though.

Potentially also more lag cos there is more volume between turbo outlet and inlet manifold.

I've not fitted a FMIC, so not an expert - but not all FMICs require modding the bodywork of the car. The Pace doesn't, for example. Could be others too, but you're right - some kits do require bodywork changes (I only know this from Scoobyet threads, mind...)

If you have an early car you can get the pipes in with no body work...... just have to take Air-con out, and let's face it, over here that's no biggie!!!

The Pace kit can be fitted without any bodywork changes and you can retain the air con
