In Subaru part terms...Is it the bit the wheel actually bolts onto, or is it concealed within the outer part?

wheel bolts onto the disk which sits on the hub.. they may class the hub as the bit that holds the wheel bearing..

The hub would be the complete unit that holds the wheel bearings, calipers, rotors and Struts.
