My MY93 WRX doesn't have any sort of heat shield around the turbo (presumably removed to fit the Scoobysport downpipe) and I recently ripped the heat shield off my exhaust where the lambda sensor is because it was rattling quite badly.
What are the likely effects of these shields being missing and should I bother replacing them?

I've take the heat shield off where the lambda (headers/manifold)is due to it rattling. The top bit is still on so that the bottom of the engine has some protection.... basically the bottom bit which i took off stops heat goining where???? To the floor.... can't really say im bothered about that.
The downpipe one is different tho.... i'd put that back on and consider getting the downpipe wrapped too.
Tony.

I put a T75 Power Engineering down pipe on my My94 car and cut the metal away from the turbo heat shield so I could refit it and get some cooling flow from the air scoop. Took a bit of fiddling about with the shears until I got it right. The downpipe has no heatshield or heatwrap on it and all is well so far-8,000 miles.
I would not worry about the front lower heatshield being missing, cant see it causing a problem.
