From: R.I.P Piphead, at least you are home now :(
Would just like to add my thanks to all the people who assisted me on my recent Oil leaking problem
I have now fitted a standard OE Filter tonight, after still getting some slight seepage, and the filter had worked loose again after tightening it with a chain !!
Everything looks totally clean now, and the filter is bright blue, so i will instantly see any more oil leaks, but thanks to all the help, I am somewhat slightly more educated in the Engine area
My quick question is, the oil that was in there was Comma Fully Synthetic 5w-40, and the oil (all they had at halfords in my dire need bank holiday monday) was Magnatec Synthetic 10w-40, the car in its almost 3 years life, has only ever had Shell Helix Ultra (dont know which one, as thats all it says on the invoices, and ive only owned the car a few months)
There is currently a mix of these two oils now in the car, is this ok for the next couple of weeks, as I am due my big 3 year service then, and it will be changed then
Mostly my journey consists of Motorways, with the rare occasion to get to go on some A roads, and the odd b road
Should I stick with Shell Helix Ultra as this is all the car has ever had (SG Petch was the dealers, so if someone knows which oil they use, it would be appreciated)
Or should I now switch brands ?
The car has always been standard, but now has a decat centre/back box and dawes device (running 15PSI), and ITG Panel Filter
Regards
Steve
and once again thanks to those who assisted, in what looks like was a simple case of filter coming loose

Preferably, it would be best if you changed the oil cos the scoobs are a little sensitive in the bearing department, ie with bearing problems, but since you are going to have the service in 3 weeks I suppose you will be alright but only if you take it easy with the car. Don't give it any stick at all.
As for which oil, there have been a number of threads on this and also on trying to work out the causes of spun bearings, but to cut a long story short, the best oils that have been recommended by the techies are, all fully synthetic, Motul 300V 15W/50, Castrol RS 10W/60 and Mobil 1 motorsports 15W/50.
One of the fellows on here and I think Bob Rawle as well, did a comparo with the 3 oils and the Motul oil kept the best oil pressure compared to the other two oils for a number of laps around a track. I used to use the Castrol oil but after the test I changed to the Motul oil.
Cheers,
Wrexy.
