...Will it have a detrimental effect if i leave it off,just done an oil change btw and its a rite work up keep taking it on and off

The engine will probabl;y get a bit muckier, and it'll aid cooling, the only thing that'll really change is that the car will also sound a bit louder, the tray's there for drive-by noise regs!
