I`m putting this post up for a friend.
He`s got a MY93 WRX import.
The problem is that the engine seems to jerk and stutter when he`s driving, the revs drop and it seems to cut out for a split second,he`s said it seems to have been getting worse over the past couple of weeks.
He`s put on a HKS induction kit,Magnex exhaust,it`s chipped and he runs it on optimax with octane boost.
Has anybody else had this problem or can anybody shed any light on the possible problem with an idea of a cure.

Cheers guys,

Eddie.

you could try the plug leads. I had a simular problem with mine when it was a cold engine.the problem was that the onboard diaognistics did not show any fault but it turned out that one of the leads was cracking up

I'm having this problem with my MY93 import as well. I *think* it could be my coil packs so I'm importing some Bosch coils from Australia (half the cost of standard Subaru parts) which may or may not cure the problem. I've been told it could also be a dry joint in the ECU, but I'll change the coils first as there are advantages even if it doesn't cure the problem.

Mine improved after changing the plugs BTW, although not by much.

Does he get a stutter/pause followed by a big backfire? Thats what I get.

I`ve driven it and it seems to just cut out for a split second usually when you boot it.Will a diagnostic pin point the problem?

You could have an air leak, When I was messing around with mine I managed to knock the pipe under the intercool which left a big air leak and my car stuttered like hell.
Check all the pipes are in one piece etc
