P1 ECU is identical except the knock sensitivity is turned up a few clicks.

Worth checking it isn't overboosting and as T-uk says a knocklink is a good idea. If it isn't detting you don't absolutely need a remap - run on Optimax PLUS octane booster and make sure the knocklink is in view. But a remap to UK fuel can also unlock some more performance whether it is detting or not, and also give improved safety.

Sounds like something for nothing, but you can safely run more boost if you sort the over-ambitious 100-102 RON timing map out and fill in a few lean spots.

BRDevelopments do the knocklink.

Have a look at the Scoobyshop under Engine for ECU related products from various suppliers

IIRC the sti5 and p1 ecu's are the same, get a knocklink and watch the big red light up

it is a tek 3 that you would need, so a good time to throw on a fmic and an uprated fuel pump to max out the injectors.
