Mornin',

Just a simple question, I hope...

My car makes a low whiny noise when I put the clutch down. I've only noticed it recently, so I don't know whether it's new, a fault, or actually just supposed to happen.

It sounds like I imagine it would if you could hear the flywheel slowing down after declutching, the pitch lowers but it doesn't stop - just keeps whirring away.

So, your votes please - is it broke, or is it ok?

Dan

It's the release bearing, quite common and nothing to worry about.

Agree with Col. Common on Scoobs. My brother (who is a wizard mechanic) found the answer - turn the music up, sometimes you hear strange sounds which is usually the money falling out of my wallet as I worry about the next knock, groan or rattle. Enjoy it.
