I had a rattle that was driving me mad and narrowed it down to the demister panel that sits on top of the dashboard, right under the windscreen. On removing what I thought was a screw cap, I discovered this:


It's obvioulsy a photo-electric cell of some sort, but any idea what it's for?!

At a guess i'd say climate control as I have one in my scoob as well, but I may be wrong

it should have a black cover thing over it but it is something to do with aircon/climate

Yup managed to suss it - thanks Mark - but I don't see how a photo electric cell effects the climate control. Never mind, fixed my rattle though!

Gary,

As mentioned, that senses sun light to adjust for day/night and direct sunlight.

I've had one go out on me, and without it the climate control freezes you at night and responds very slowly to tunnels etc. <that was on a Nissan>

But in short, yeah, it is part of the A/C system.
