Yes! Although your mods may be safe, you may end up with a bad batch of fuel and your engine may det. The Knocklink will pick this up.

sorry but i don't agree, with the mods you have and it being a uk car running fairly low boost the ECU will have no problem tackling any knock you are getting and correct it by retarding the timing and boost
remember alan, if you fit a manual boost controller like a dawes then a knock link is essential as it takes control of the boost away from the ECU.
all in my opinion

perhaps the question should be changed to 'do i want notice of noises coming from within my engine that are potentially going to require a rebuild'
ask yourself the above then decide

pete, good way of putting it.
Jonny, i think like pete said, after all having had an egine go with pretty similar mods to alan, i took the view, i would like to know if there IS anything going on.
For what it costs, it can save a lot of hassle.
EG - Full throttle acceleration, anywhere, the MAF or any other part is dieing, or lambda sensor is dieing, so no CEL, ECU working overtime to correct knock, but cant cope...what do you do?
Do you know if it is detting?
Do you lift off? if you do, why?
For the small cost of a knocklink, and seeing as Alan already has one, then i would put the thing on.
Ask David about his mate who drove his car, foot flat to floor, knocklink going like a christmas tree on hyper mode, his mate did not know what it was for, so carried on with his foot flat to the floor. David screams at him, so he lifts off.
Gieven the scenario above, if he had not lifted off, then imo it would not have been long before it boom.
I personally would just rather have the opportunity to tell whether the engine is detting or not.
Choice is yours

Even completely bog standard cars det on occasion as I saw first hand with John Banks and my std RB5.
He has also pointed out that over 5000rpm, the ECU sometimes misses knock, so if you don't know and your ECU doesn't know then that's only going to lead to trouble.
The chances might be slim, but it's a bit of extra insurance. Ignorance is bliss till your engine blows up.
For the sake of it's low cost, it's worth every penny IMHO.
