Can anybody give me an idea whats wrong with my Type R (MY99)
Just filled it with Optimax and driving up a hill, fairly hard, then the engine cut out at about 7500RPM just before changing gear. Managed to start it again but after 2 seconds it cut out and continued to do so after each attempt. A mate said it could be the fueling or the ECU. If so how much to fix it and how easy to repair a Jap spec ECU?

It was the MAF sensor. Its true what they say they are pretty fragile on the version 5.

Did you get any signs that the MAF was on it's way out? Any mods?

Car running fine, just had the 45,000 mile service carried out about 2 months prior from an official dealeer prepared to touch imports. Only engine mods are a Blitz SUS but lots of people say you should not fit them because of damaged MAF sensors.
...but the looks and that sweet sound...

How likely is it that the Blitz caused the MAF to fail? Is the Blitz still on the car?
