I've just snapped a door mirror off and bought a replacement. As a possible alternative the colour matching the replacement one I wondered if I could just change the housing for the old one.
My first attempt at this resulted in me breaking the glass in the old one. Has anyone managed to removed the glass and plastic frame to get to the mirror innards without breaking it ? If so could you tell me how.

You need to heat the glass / retaining plastic lip (hairdryer should do). Once pliable should be able to pop glass out and renew......

had to replace my glass due to breakage. the original was held in place by the plastic trim and 2 sponge double sided sticky pads. they stick like sh1te to a blanket.

cool, thanks I'll try the heating trick - the previous one also had sponge sticky tabs so it looks like that was destined to be broken !
