Went to the car wash yesterday and had the full wash including under chasis wash, car wouldn't start, had to push it out of the car wash. The lads said because of the under chasis wash the engine is probably damp so i should just wait a while with the bonnet up. 1 hour later still didn't start so i called out a near by mechanic, and just typical it fired up! The mechanic couldn't find the spark plugs/leads to spray WD40 (obviously he wasn't familiar with scoobs) so told me to drive it a bit and it should be fine. Did just that with a few stops and starts. The car seemed fine. 3 hours later same again. It fires up but then just cuts out rather like fuel running out and then totally refuses to start. If the car was damp shouln't it have been fine after such a long drive? Eventually towed it home and typically it fires up on my drive.

Sorry for the long thread.

i wonder if this is sensor related? maybe water has entered a sensor and this causes your problem, have a look at the other non starting problem threads.
