STi 7 (UK) + PPP = loud screech at high speed
#1
Got my STi UK PPP'd last week and everything was fine until today.
Whilst accelerating (on a private piece of land)through 125mph to 130mph a loud screeching sound came from the front of the car, I'm guessing it was from the turbo area but could be wrong. At all other speeds and revs there's no problem.
Any ideas on what this could be?
Thanks,
Phil

They all do that sir.....
Honest they do. MY01 WRX, WRX with PPP, STi and Sti7 PPP. Scared the sh*t out of me the first time..... There has been lots of talk about it being the scoop vibrating, the windows resonating and loads of other thoughts. I dropped the window 1/2 inch and closed it and the noise stopped, could have been coincidence of course. Now I treat it as an warning that it's time to change into 6th gear....

02 WRX with PPP here and yes, the first time I tested the higher end of the performance I noticed the same high-pitched noise - put it down to the plastic on the scoop (and slowed down quickly!)
I also noticed at the same time that the bit of dampness on the outside of the back window (saloon) started to go up the window in the middle and then swirled around and up - quite a strange aero-dynamic quality I thought.

I have heard this sound myself, although I drive a non-PPP car. I put it down to the rush of air impacting the parked wipers at very high speed.
Used to have this problem with a previous car (not a Scooby). Was definitely the wipers on that one.
