Question

Hi,

Mate has a beemer (don't boo too loudly!). He has a problem with one of the back doors whereby it will only open from the inside, not from the outside handle.

Anyone know what this might be ? Whether it's a simple job by the sound sof things ? Or even how the mechanism works on a 523i ??

Any help on this woul dbe much appreciated as it needs to go in for an MOT ASAP, and it will fail on this apparently.

Why would it fail on that??
Anyway, it's probably a simple linkage thing.
He'll need to strip off the door card and have a look if the linkage from the outer handle is still attached/broken/parts missing etc.
He MAY have to strip out the other side to see how it should be.
Sorry I can't be of more help, eg: HOW to strip out the doors.
Tell him to get a reliable Scoob, none of your German engineering crap:
