Unhappy

Just fitted JW Racing quickshift to MY02 WRX.
Done a few test drives up and down the road with the gaitor off so I could adjust it. I have found that it is really notchy even when adjusted to its longest throw - is this right???

I'm sure i've fitted it correctly

Are they all like it or do they wear in??

Tried to change up quickly but was so notchy it feels like it's taking longer than the original

Any advice greatly (and desperatley) appreciated

Ross

I think I have the answer - Don't panic!!!

If you look inside your original lever you will see it is two seperate items mounted in rubber, I believe this is to stop the notchiness and vibration being transmitted up the shaft.

Not explained very well but look and it will become obvious.

Question

Thanks Stu, I noticed that as soon as I took the original off and held it next to the new one.
still didnt think it would be as notchy as it is.

Is there a way of making it any better??
How have you found yours, does it bed in??
How short have you adjusted it??

Sorry for all the questions, never had chance to compare before, not sure if I like it, was expecting a bit more notchyness than standard but not quite as much as there is!

I had a problem with mine rattling at first but i changed to the longer sleeve supplied. Mine is not set too short, it's been ok. It is notchy though.

Been in for about 3k miles and no probs.

Kin, I certainly found that mine got smoother with miles, I was a bit shocked by how stiff it was at first, but it became very smooth and positive over time, just stick with it.

Thanks for the feedback people!
I have test driven a wagon WRX with Pro-Drive quick shift and it felt pretty smooth so was a bit upset to find the JW "best quick shift" (according to Scoobynetters!) to be really notchy.
Have to admit that it's starting to feel smoother already and each gear can be changed a lot quicker than before.

I havent adjusted it too short yet due to notchyness but am getting used to it so might be getting shorter soon!

How has everyone else adjusted theirs?? Very short or just short??

thanks again
