MY 00 with Prodrive ECU
#1
Hi, newbie here.
why do people fit aftermarket ECU's when the standard one (or prodrive one in my case) is completely reprogrammable?
Can I have the dime tour of ECU's please?
(I bet this will be a cut and paste for the umpteenth time for some of you hardened tuners!!)
thanks
andy.

It is not user programmable, and you cannot live map it as you are moving. It doesn't easily get you over 380 BHP and it retains the sometimes frail MAF sensor. Other than that it is good, but by no means the only choice.

Yes, you can using the DeltaECU (Flash2002) EcuTek software but that's only available to commercial mappers and not enthusiasts. You would need to become an authorised EcuTek mapper to get hold of it.
Even if you did, it's very expensive compared to an individual buying a Link ECU, which is supplied with their own re-mapping software. You'd need to go commercial to justify the expense.
