High LAMBDA reading!???
2nd MOT failure post today! Done some searchin about but agai couldnt find an answer....
I've just noticed too that the LAMBDA reading on my emissions sheet is high:
1st test (1.03 limit) was 1.134
2nd test 1.209.
My questions are:
1. does the exhaust (cats) alter this reading?
2. Will a high LAMBDA reading fail the test (i assume so)
3. If the LAMBDA readng is high does it increase emissions?
4. Exactly where is the sensor?
5. What does LAMBDA mean?
TIA

Found this on http://www.aew69.dial.pipex.com/Exhaust%20Emissions.html
If your vehicle only fails the Lambda past of the catalyser test it is not the Lambda sensor it is far more likely to be a leak in the exhaust system. The Lambda sensor is more likely to cause a high CO and HC reading because when it becomes defective it gives a signal to the ECU to give more fuel as if the engine is still on choke.
So ill double check all the joints while im putting the centre section back in!
