Newbie help wanted

Hello all,
Just bought a my99(T)uk turbo dbm and have a couple of questions you can help me with. Car is completely standard.
1. When turning the ignition on what lights come on as i dont seem to have any warning lights come on, on the left hand side.
ie, FUEL LIGHT, KEY SYMBOL ETC
2. Do all imprezas run lumpy on idle, mines about 600rpm
Sounds as if its missing ie running on three cylinders and going to cut out when in traffic.
The car runs ok when driving normally and has plenty of pull when opened up.
Will be grateful for any replies as am to the ones already received.
cheers everyone

get ur maf sensor checked..for quick check connect the black plugs under yr footwell on drivers side..get in upside down with a torch and then turn ignition on and dont start car but see what check engine light does..single steady flash ok if not count long and short flashes for fault code ie long long long quick quick fault code 32..then post on here someone will have list of fault codes..

I cant remember which lights come on to be honest! Fuel light only comes on when you are running really low.
Depends what you mean by "lumpy". They do sound a bit rough on idle. A mate of mine always refers to my "3-cylinder piece of cr@p". If you compare a scooby to, say, a BMW, then yes they do sound very lumpy so it could well be that yours is normal. Worth checking the MAF sensor (I think) if you are concerned.
