Question

Should you flush it every so often? If so, what would the process be?
Clean with degreaser
Flush with water
Allow to dry

Hey Swan

When i flushed my intercooler i used carb cleaner (because it will evaporate completely). Dispensed it all from the spraycan into a container, sealed up all the pipes (except the one that goes to the throttle body).

Then poured in the cleaner swirled it around for half a minute, then left it standing for a minute, then swirled again and emptied out.

Job done.

Why do you want to clean it out anyway, are there large depsits of oil in there, or just a fine misting??? If it's just a fine misting then i'd be inclined to leave it alone.

'ello Iain,

My thinking was that any dirt in the IC must decrease the efficiency of the IC. So cleaning it properly should only help?

If you've oil in there - clean everything and fit a catch tank. I used to clean my i/c every time it came off until the catch tank went on. I used petrol - pour in a bit and shake it a around a bit while havinmg a ***
