Sadly my UK standard clutch has gone the distance and i thought about getting the STI one to cope with my mods. ive got prices for just the clutch for £349 then £80-100 for fitting, does that sound good or not?

thanks Sy

Doesnt sound good to me. I can get an Ap Racing for a little cheaper than that.

Where you buying it from?

The fitting price is good IMHO given the work involved. Subaru clutches are a bit mysterious, some standard ones hold incredible torque and others fail easily. If you want a smooth drive like stock especially in traffic jams, then you need an organic type clutch. AP (from Demon Tweeks), Lateral Performance and others on the Scoobyshop can supply you a clutch which is claimed to take more torque than any of the Subaru items for similar price, but they are still smooth to drive. Not sure if the STi clutch is an uprated version of the Xede standard one or not, but the aftermarket ones I mentioned are widely respected. The deal you have found is not bad, and the clutch would probably wear well if you are not putting more then 300lbft through it.

The clutch was from Revolution in Newcasle. im want to spent no more really than £350 for the clutch but if you guys can get me a good aftermarket one then im always open to offers, i dont want to high a strung one so i cant pull away in traffic tho.

Thanks, Sy

sti one is fine for only minor mods on a uk car i would say.

the organic ap retails approx £346 + VAT plus the release bearing is an extra £63.99 + vat RRP so it starts to add up a bit.

Helix is a similar tho cheaper alternative as the release bearing is included in the price, and if you're after running more than 300 horses i would say lateral performance all day long

ps dont forget to get the flywheel checked and skimmed or replaced if necessary depending on condition.
