Replacement Keys
#1
I have just paid a fortune for a new Key for my MY'99 UK turbo.
Dealer says £70 for key and programming.
Is he ripping me off, or is this the norm?
They had to order the key in against my chassis number etc.

Not sure if we are being ripped off or not but i paid about the same to have my key made and programmed in dealers too.
Sure its a lot for a key, but either you need it or you don`t.

Turns out that the dealer reprograms both keys to a new key number
to ensure that if you have lost a key, someone cannot use it.
You can- I found out later, get transponder keys cut + coded for £30, this is fine for replacements, but not as good for the security conscious if you have lost a key.
(or bough a car from someone who may still have the previous key).
