Question

Thinking about fitting STi7 intercooler...

With the PPP will it totally screw things up mapping wise or won't it matter and just be a benefit..?

Bigger intercoolers normally mean lower pressure losses and slightly higher boost. As your should be over fuleeling you should be ok.

But it wouldnt hurt ringng up Merv at Power Engineering or emailing Bob Rawle or John Banks.

all 3 map cars with modified parts and will tell you the exact repurcussions.

If you do get an STI7 one, let me know if you want to sell the old one?

Lurking for new intercoolers now Hol? You must be getting worried about all the others with increasing power in Kent!

Lower pressure drop will give the turbo less work to do. I believe the APS intercooler (which is better than the STi one), drops 1-2psi less than the standard WRX one at high revs/boost. Although I believe the ECU will compensate for this from MAF & MAP readings etc, talk to the experts. An ECUTEK remap would help release more power and torque than the PPP ECU, especially if you have other mods (decat etc).

Power Engineering, Scoobysport (Pat) or Bob Rawle will all do them, I don't believe John Banks is doing the new shape WRX (only STi)

I've got a MY01 PPP full decat + STI intercooler. Works perfect. I got 270 BHP@6000 plus 270 lbft torque between 3000 and 4000 rpm.
Boost @ 1.3bars @ 3000 for a second , drops to 1 bar @ 6300.

I also have avaiable the OE intercooler. No stonechips, for £150 if anybody is interested.

Caronte,

Can you email me what you've done to your MY01, was thinking of doing the same sort of thing. I need to pick your brains on a few things.

Thanks,

Mark
