o.k guys I have just changed the Throttle Position Sensor on MY93 WRX and luckily all went well - when I say this I mean I didn't lose any screw or fixings down into the engine Anyway having fitted it the car now idles (after getting warm) at 1500 rpm. I have tried to perform an ECU reset but having done so I am now getting code 42(idle control switch) problem.

I assume I havent fitted it correctly or something ? and would really appreciate some assistance.

Cool

Nelson,

To confirm if you have indeed fitted the IACSV correctly & that it`s working. Check the voltage of pin 1 to earth & pin 2 to earth of connector B44. They should read 8-9 volts & 6-7 volts respectively with ignition on and engine not started. If this is
ok check the voltage between pin 2 (center pin)of the sensor end of the harness & the body.It should read minimum 10v.

To check the valve itself disconnect the harness connector at the sensor and measure the resistance across pins 1&3 then 1&2 the value should be in the range of 8 - 11 ohms.

If all the above is ok then i`d check the idle contol switch.
Keep an eye on my site as there`ll b loadsa this info once I`ve finished putting my scoob back 2gether & I have time 2 assemble the pages
