Question

Hi all,

I'm thinking of putting mesh on all the grill, scoop etc. but was wondering if the mesh in the bonnet scoop slows/restricts the flow of air to the intercooler?

Would depend on how fine the mesh is. I've seen a few cars with a mesh that wasn't too fine - keeps larger more dangerous bits out of your engine bay/IC.

Of course it doesnt impede air flow or why would most car manufacturers use it? Not unless your going to use woven wire cloth or something similar.

Cool

Of course it will impede airflow! The question is, will it impede it enough to make a big enough drop in airflow to cause cooling issues?

The car manufacturers and rally teams etc will have worked out an accptable (to them) balance between reduction of airflow and the reduction of grit/stone/rock/other foreign object ingres/damage risk caused by the installation of the grill.

Wasn't there a sh*tfight between Prodrive and Subaru about the placement of the Subaru grill badge on the latest WRC? 7 hp lost from memory
