Question

I did a search and found nothing useful.
The problem is this. Im running to much boost due to a decat downpipe and need to lower the boost down from 1.4-1.5+ bar depending on weather to a respectable 1.2-1.3 bar. I want to lower the boost as im hitting the fuel cut and it didnt sound to healthy today when the boost went of the clock (0.5 bar+). It started to make a pinking sound I already have a 3-way bleed valve from a previous car and would like to use this to save money.

Can anyone provide me with information on how to fit it. Also how to lower the boost once fitted?

Pictures would be most appreciated.
Many thanks for any help

Thumbs up

hi ronnie, the bleed valve fits between the outlet on the snail of the turbo and the outlet on the actuator.
the actuator cracking pressure is 0.5/0.6 bar so it will only run this when the bleed valve is closed.
open the bleed valve at 1/4 of a turn at a time to reach the required boost level.
if i were you i would get a dawes device as soon as possable as they are far superior device for controlling turbo boost.

if your ecu is controlling the standard solenoid to these bbost levels then you could bypass the solenoid by putting a pipe directly between the wastegate actuator and the turbo compressor housing nipple putting the bleedvalve in this pipe. If your actuator is standard you should see about 0.60-0.70bar approx with the bleedvalve shut, then obviously you can open it to the desired level.
You'll prob get warned off bleedvalves(like I did) apparantly no good on scoobs(dunno why they've been fine on other cars if sensible)

Thanks for the reply. James could you give me an idiots guide to fitting the bleed valve
I would get a dawes but why spend £68 on it when it does exacly the same job. Bar the fact you may get quicker spool up.

My car is running 300bhp at what ever boost I want ( depending on if I shove my foot to the floor and hit fuel cut. Or teese the pedal down and get anything)
All I want to do is stop hitting fuel cut.
If anyone can put a case to me that the dawes is going to benifit me suffice that it warrents £68 extra considering Im at max boost without removing the fuel cut then I will get a Dawes device.

Any Ideas??
Many thanks again.
