Hi folks.

I am trying to put together a list of modifications for a 98 UK Turbo Impreza, and would value your opinions. I have already fitted an ITG Panel Filter, TSL De-cat Centre Section and TSL Grp-N back box. Also, I have Eibach lowered springs.

I've compiled this list, which I'd like people to give ratings to, but would take other suggestions also....

I'm looking for views on overall power increase, effect on drivability, value for money, cosmetic effect and any downsides...

Cheers,

Mark

Power:
Dump Valve
ECU Change and re-map (e.g. Link / Motec)
Downpipe

Braking:
2 pot -> 4 pot Brakes
Grp N / Pagid Discs
Braided Brake Lines
'Better' pads

Get a link, very expensive but the best. You can remap as much as you want. Which means you can keep adding bits onto the car then adjust the ecu to get the maximum BHP.

Go for a magnex twin dump downpipe (decat) and get some 4-pot calipers. you can expect quite alot of power increase. Boost can be raised to what ever you feel you want. Safe limit about 1.2 bar.

I would estimate 50 bhp from the link and the fully decatted system. Maybe even more. You need to speek to Bob or John Banks about official gains.

Regards Ronnie

Question

Cheers,

I know that the scooby doesn't usually pass an MOT with the full de-cat. How much trouble does having to re-fit the downpipe once a year cause ? (And what about roadside testing ?)

Cheers,

Mark

Thumbs up

I've a '98 UK, and already have full decat. Pulls from very low down now, and sounds awesome.
I've also got Godspeed 335mm brakes, Morettes with PVP bulbs, and Scoobysport HID's.
Tomorrow it goes in for bumpsteer, geometry, and anti-lift.
Haven't given a lot of thought to more power yet.
Get the brakes, (especially), and the handling sorted first.

Cool

alcazar,
when I had the springs fitted, TSL also sorted the geometry....
I think you'll find it tightens things up nicely!

I'll certainly go for the brakes next, though I think I'll have to get all the options at once, as I can't get the disks without the pots and vice versa, and it makes no sense to fit the braided lines later (!)

I'm a bit confused about full de-cat, as above (MOT), but the rest of the system made a big difference.

I've already replaced the bulbs with PIAA whites, but forgot to mention it !

Mark,i have the pagid 8 groove discs and they are more than up to the job, the week link at the moment is the fast road pads , although good, they do fade after a bit of abuse but a good bit better than standard.I was also thinking of de-cat &filter but didn't know how reliable it would be if i left the ecu as standard as i've heard all sorts of horror stories...
