Just throwing ideas around...as you do

not seen the inside of a scooby block yet, but was wondfering if knife edging the crank has any useful gains?

what about baffling between sump and crank ?

does the underside of each piston get a squirt of oil from a specifically placed jet or does it rely on splash from crank?
Is there a mod to do this if the jet is not standard.

ooh another thought !
not much mention of dry sumps on scoobs?

Fuzz,

It's not really worth knife edging, since the crank doesn't sit in the oil. It's certainly worth looking at extra sump baffles though. I don't know anyong who's tried dry sumping. It's a bit tight for space for a tank, and a well baffled sump works well.

The only blocks that have oil squirters, are the closed deck blocks. Phase one open deck blocks can have squirters fitted, but it's a bugger to do, and if you're re-building, you're better off with a CDB anyway.

Mark.

Wink

I'M NOT SURE THAT IT WOULD MAKE ALL THAT MUCH DIFFERENCE (KNIFE EDGING) AS FOR PISTON COOLING JETS IF THEY HAVE'NT GOT THEM ALREADY IT WOULD BE MAJOR GRIEF TRYING TO FIT THEM.
IS THERE REALY ANY NEED FOR DRY SUMPS ON A SCOOB WORKS TEAMS DONT USE THEM DO THEY(AT LEAST I DONT THINK THEY DO

MATT

p.s i've just realised i had caps lock on sorry
p.p.s if you started delving into your engine that deeply you'd get that nice engine bay dirty!!!!!he he (only joking)

Webster,
I think the modding for the current engine is coming to an end, no point in spending wads of cash on a weezy 2.0L
need to look into "the next engine".
having had my first ever scoob only six months, I need to get to know what they are like on the inside before I get to see bits of it led on the tarmac

(backing up a little)
still going down,FMIC, big turbo, route but that'll be all on current engine.

(all subject to change of course)

other thoughts are separate Track only car with home built engine to prove my worth/reliability to enable me sell my mods to you lot ? <dreaming>

Fuzz,
I must say your car looked the BO***cks last weekend on the rollers , i think personally that a very clean well presented car looks alot better than a over modded car i just wish my car was just as clean (but when my girlfriend uses it every day and drives onto a farm in it to feed her horses it's never gonna stay tidy) and as for your comment about engine parts led out on the road , it's nice to have extra power but without compromisimg reliabillity

Interesting approach - car is not running correctly so they tune it

Probabably better to fix the cause first

So i've been told there is a problem with the ecu and the unichip will repair/replace/cover/cure/hide? (delete as apropriate)the problem. I'm know Where your coming from Trout but they know what they are doing, and i certainly have no cause to disagree
