I think I need to top up my anti freeze, as I've noticed the car doesn’t like starting when it’s really cold, like this morning it took about 7 attempts for it to start. It’s an intermittent thing, like yesterday it started 1st time. The battery is about 2 months old so hopefully it’s not a battery problem. As it only seems to happen when it’s cold I assume it was the anti freeze.

Can I use any anti-freeze i.e. stuff from Halfords?

Any suggestions always helpful. I may give it an oil change soon, maybe the cold has buggered the oil up maybe. The oil was changed approximately 5k ago.

Thanks

Dan

Question

Dan,
do you know what oil was put in at the last service?
As for anti freeze, a 50/50 mix is probably your best as i dont think it gets that cold down by the south coast buy yes, Halfords anti freeze should do the job, just dont overfill.

Tony,

It was changed on the service so whatever cheapo oil they put in. I think an oil change is due.

Right I'm off to Halfords to get some anti freeze.

Tony,

I checked the level of anti freeze, in the reservoir by the battery that was empty, took the cap off the radiator bit and it was full. So after consulting the manual, it said to fill the reservoir up if the radiator is full and the reservoir is empty.

So I’ve done that, hopefully be ok tomorrow morning
