Question

'ello all,

Looking at getting a Link ECU for my MY01 WRX, a search on the board doesn't seem to bring up any problems. Anything to be aware of if getting one? Additional sensors you should get, handheld control worth it, etc?
TIA

LINK is the nuts ONLY IF MAPPED PROPPERLY! ie by Bob Rawle of BRD. The hand controller isnt really worth it unless you can map an ecu. The 3-port boost solenoid is worth the little extra and maybe the Knocklink and Lamdalink.

Gez, that's a bit difficult if you're a few thousand km's away on another continent. I understand it has a "self tune" facility that's fairly safe to start with?

Sorry m8, i didnt sew you are from S.A. I absolutely love the place and would love to live there.
Enough of that. Your best bet is to speak to BoB Rawle www.brdevelopments.com
He knows the ecu inside out and will be able to advise you on the base map which the ecu comes with and the self tune mode.

Cheers

Thumbs up

The link isn't as good as the stock ECU on having a perfect idle control (especially with the aircon going on and off) - it takes alot of black magic, and swinging of dead cats counterclockwise to get it spot on.

It's not a problem though.

Other than that it's a nice ecu, and not too hard to work with or learn.

The stock map is NOT suitable really, and needs to be worked with.

I agree with SAM, the plug and play map is not ideal. My car did have a full exhaust but the default map detted badly and was unusable.

As above, a Link is as good as the mapper that sets it up. We are lucky here in the UK as there are some very experienced Link mappers here, Bob Rawle being our resident guru.
