I am looking for some pointers from anyone with previous experience of a throttle position sensor playing up ? Can anyone give me some ideas wot to look out for when these sensors start to deteriorate ?

Cheers in advance

A main indicator is when the idle speed starts to become irratic, often idling at a higher than normal speed, around 1300 rpm or more. Hope that helps.

Cool

If your handy with an AVO you can check the pot is ok.
From memory (hey I only did this about 3 weeks ago
Set meter on ohms, disconnect wiring harness to TPS, and connect the meter to the connectors on the TPS. Use center pin as common and one of the others as + (BTW ignition not on when you do this) rotate the throttle body arm and the resistance will change at a smooth rate. If not and its jerky the pot maybe fubar. From memory the other pin does the same but in the opposite direction ie if 1st was + then the other is -
