Posted here as its technical rather than an accessory forum question:

How does one go about removing the steering wheel and airbag from a MY99 UK Turbo2000 without setting the charges off?

I wish to change the OE wheel to a snap-off kind for security reasons

Has anyone done this?

Cant say for a subaru, but I have removed airbags from VW/Audi. I simply unplugged the wires for the airbag as I was removing them.
I would imagine that power is needed to actually set the airbag off, so if the battery is disconnected, you should be totally safe. Ive never actually heard of any going off anyway during removal. ( Though I did hear of a couple of BMW,s with very low profile rubber, hitting potholes and setting them off )

very hard 2 activate airbag it needs a sequence from ecu , when we send back under warranty we have have 2 activate even with 12volts put thought they dont go off, need 2 use service tool, just disconnect battery and remove ,dont connect battery with air bag disconnected because it will register fault and put light up
