A question to all the technically minded please.
I have a ’98 uk scoob with full de-cat. The car has also been re-mapped and the max boost increased from the std 0.9 bar up to 1.2 bar.

I am thinking of getting a dump valve fitted, will this affect max boost? I guess it just gets to max boost quicker? I also assume it will not affect the mapping.
Whats best, a vta dump valve or a re-circulating one?

Also what do Subaru fit as standard, ie is there a dump valve already fitted? If so is it worth changing it?
Finally, am I right in thinking it will not affect power or torque, just drivability.

Sorry if these are silly questions and this topic has already been covered.

Comments and advice gratefully received.

Graham.

Graham,
It would be a wise idea to replace the DV as the MY97/8 one has been known to leak on a std car.
It won't have any major effect on the boost levels or the car in general, unless the old one was leaking

I would speek to who ever mapped the car as to whether to go recirc or VTA.
The std one is a recirc made of plastic

Thanks for the comments.

I didn't realise the std one was plastic, doesn't sound very substantial.
Think i will get a new one fitted, i think mine may be even be leaking as i can hear it venting (If driving with the window open).

I was however concerned as there have been a number of posts regarding running problems and dump valves.
